SQUID Learning English launches a competition for English teachers – 1,000 Euro prize
STOCKHOLM – January 24th, 2022 – SQUID App’s English Teachers Team is celebrating the International Day of Education by holding a competition for English teachers around the world. The winner of the 2022 Teaching Challenge (the official name of the competition), which launches today, will be awarded a EUR 1,000 prize.
The SQUID 2022 Teaching Challenge is a competition held by SQUID App and aimed at supporting English teachers on their journey to start or excel at teaching English with authentic news. Applicants must be active English teachers. To apply, they are required to complete the following three steps: 1. Write a lesson plan featuring the SQUID app as a teaching aid. 2. Take a photo or screenshot of their lesson while it’s being conducted. 3. Complete the application form and upload the lesson plan here. Applications are open until 14th of February 2022.
The Competition is part of the SQUID Learning English programme, providing English language learners and teachers around the world with free self-study and class materials based on the latest news. The programme includes the Learning English newsletter, sent out to language teachers on a weekly basis. It contains free printable lesson plans and ideas based on authentic news articles. (To sign up for the newsletter, click here.)
SLE is also helping English learners to self-study with a dedicated in-app feature called Learning English, containing interactive and user-friendly self-study sets based on up-to-date stories. The feature allows students to learn without a teacher, wherever they are, whenever they wish.
The SQUID 2022 Teaching Challenge is aimed at supporting English teachers on their journey to start or excel at teaching English with authentic news. It is held on the occasion of the International Day of Education, which was established by a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018 in celebration of the role of education for peace and development. This year we will be observing the fourth International Day of Education, celebrated under the theme “Changing Course, Transforming Education.”
“This competition is SQUID’s latest initiative in the area of inspiring teachers to use interesting news articles in their teaching and an additional contribution to the growth of teachers” says Johan Othelius, founder and CEO.
